Attending: Fr. Romanus, Vince Sciano, Pat Sciano, Jeff Madunich, Sherry Kaminski, Paul Anderson, Katrin Kempowski, Linda Krowsky
Minutes:
Meeting commenced at 6:35pm.
(Item 1): Pat Sciano led us in the opening prayer.
(Item 2): Fr. Romanus corrected
(Item3): Reviewed liaison reports from the committees.
School Advisory Board (Sherry Kaminski)- want sound proofing in the gym and repaint the gym. Statutes of the school do not allow parish committees hours to count as volunteer hours for the parents/students. Future contracts for fundraisers will require principal approval, but Sherry will be asking for multiple year contracts that the board should be able to negotiate these.
Food service should be automated for the fees.
Paul A: The statute is being misinterpreted. Other volunteer ours should be allowed. We may need clarification on the interpretation for our parish. Rule is in the handbook, not in the statutes.
Fr. Romanus: our parish was volunteered for the school parent liturgy on the 19th. The meet & greet should be cancelled for now because of some confusion on the details.
Building & Grounds - (Vince Sciano) Vince had a written summary from their last meeting.
Paul A: The offer to paint the trim on the school had to be coordinated with the school since they own it (contractually) during the day.
Fr. Romanus: some code work was completed on the school at our expense.
Finance - (Richard Kuharski) - no update since he was not able to make tonight's meeting.
Human Concerns - (Jeff Madunich) Rosalie Manor does't have a need for the giving tree items, but would like baby needs and toys.
Fr. Romanus: IC is looking for their meal program help from the other parishes. Need to determine (Human Concerns committee?) what their needs are and how we can help.
Home and School - (Linda Krowsky) - haven't attended the last meeting. The school is increasing their advertising in the local papers. Attended athletic committee meeting - thought that they could no longer use our building. Linda cleared that up and suggested that other options exist at the other parishes. Looking at purchasing an AED. Communication is imporving with the school parents, but reminded that not forget about comunication with the parishes. She suggested that the bulletin be used to put student artwork on it throughout the school year.
Fr. Romanus: suggested that we make the picture of the council more visible by hanging the council picture in the vestibule.
Prayer & Worship - (Pat Sciano) anticipated masses for the holy days will be discontinued and will now be held on the day of the holy day. All Soul's day mass not well attended. Advent bluebook will be reordered thia year (125 copies). Communal penance service Saturday December 9th at 1:30 pm at St. Veronica's. St. Paul's on Wednesday December 20th at 7:00pm. The Saturday December 23rd and Sunday December 24th regular Masses will be masses for the last week of Advent. A 4:30 pm and 10:00pm Masses will be added on Sunday to be Christmas Vigil Masses. On New Year's day a 9:00am mass will take place. Charles Rehorst is asking for a 4:30pm Mass choir. Discussion on how to get volunteers.
Festival - no report at this time.
Christian Formation - (Katrin Kempowski) referred the group to the previously sent e-mail of the summary she sent. Children's ministry is paying for their own crafts/other expenses, but she can be reimbursed by the parish. They can go to the business manager (Janet Popelier) for reimbursement. Needed a room for adult confirmations, maybe the south meeting hall or the extended care room. One parent after mass gave Karen Bushman asking that the mass be changed again to accomodate the religious education program. We should look at doing a weeknight religious educaton class at St. Paul. Katrin suggested a get together with the parish trustees, the parish council and the committees. Karen will help coordinated this.
Fr. Romanus: we need to look into an RCIA program at our parish.
(Item 4): Paul A: The Time and Talent database is out of date. We should look at updating the questionare and try again. Maybe early 2007. Pat, Vince, Katrin and Sherry volunteered to help.
Fr. Romanus: want someone to help coordinate a parish directory. Paul Anderson will help lead this. Sherry and Katrin volunteered to assist.
(Item 5): Paul A: we need to update since we don't have all the committees that are listed. This needs to be corrected.
(Item 6):
(Item 7): Sherry K: the sign at the brother house was not turned on as agreed. We need to update this sign so people know we're a Catholic church.
Paul A: requested information from the Archdiocese on what should be put on a parish card.
(Item 8): reviewed Paul Anderson's summary and collection of information on stewardship. We can focus on Gratitude and Communication Tools/Accountability aspects of stewardship. Based on the list of suggested Action Steps, Paul solicited suggestions for what we should implement.
Fr. Romanus: suggested that the collection be brought up with the gifts during Mass. Historically this has not been done. We should spend about 10 minutes at future meetings to review Stewardship suggestions.
(Item 9): Paul A: doesn't see a need for a school Social Event, but is open to having an event with the parish councils. Paul A. volunteered to coordinate this sometime next spring.
Sherry K. needs help with Casino Night (now STAA Fundraiser), but won't do it if noone volunteers.
Fr. Romanus: maybe we could have a parish council Christmas party after the January 8th council meeting. We will discuss at a future meeting.
(Item 12):
Meeting adjourned at 8:45pm.
Respectfully submitted by: Gerry Burant, Council Secretary
