Old Business:
Faith in our Future – There are some concerns with this as far as having a clear direction. Leaders don’t know how to answer questions if they should arise from parishioners. Also, we need more volunteers.
Vision 21 Collaborations – Father talked with Father Bob from
Sacred Heart. Their council meets on
September 11 at
Parish Council members.
New business:
Katrin attended the August 20 Officer’s Training. She noted that everyone should go over Section 13 in our binders “Effective Leaders” section and focus on monthly meetings (she gave us a handout).
Katrin showed us two pieces of mail that she received. One was a thank you card from Kay Mather. The other was a letter of concern from a parishioner who had concerns that she wanted us to be aware of. We will respond to her letter and discussed how we wanted to approach her concerns as a Council.
Youth Ministry – Jeff Montoya has left for another assignment and his last day will be September 30, 2008. Father asked if we want to still be a part of St. Veronica’s collaboration again or should we have our own Youth Minister. The council agreed that it would be in our best interest to hire our own Youth Minister; make this a full time position that would serve both youth & adults. Father received an application of someone who was interested in the position.
2009 Directory – Cheryl Kaminski was contacted about putting this together for next year.. Waiting for her response.
Father Romanus Report –
Our Budget is out and it shows a +$15,000
We are still finishing up our festival business and hopefully will have the final results in shortly.
Our Archdiocese assessment this year is under $18,000
The school kitchen floor is finished.
The church lights are in.
Patrice is getting estimates on our door signs for our two halls.
We are all set for our religious education classes. We will be using 3 rooms – 1 classroom, the large hall and the small hall.
