ST. PAUL PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

August 7, 2006 – 6:30 p.m.

Present:

Father Romanus, Gerry Burant, Cheryl Kaminski, Paul Anderson,
Katrin Kempowski, Vince Sciano, and Pat Sciano

Not present:  Jeff Madunich, Linda Krowsky, Richard Kucharski, and Sue Kakatsch

Len Konkel, a member of the Building & Grounds Committee, joined the meeting to ask the Council’s opinion regarding the parish’s Bingo equipment.  This equipment has not been used for some time, and is taking up space in one of the garages.  Wilson Park Senior Center has shown interest in the equipment, as theirs is quite outdated.  It was felt that if the Senior Center is interested, they could have it.

OLD BUSINESS

A contract has been drawn up for Atlas Academy’s leasing of the school building.  Copies of the contract were handed out to Council members.  Paul and Sherry will be reviewing the wording of the contract to make sure everything stated is complete and correct to ensure the parish is totally protected.  They will get back to Father Romanus before the end of the week with any changes/additions.

There will be no change to the time of the Sunday, 10:15 Mass due to the comparatively small number of families involved in the Religious Ed. Program.  It was felt that because of the small numbers involved, it would not be totally fair to the rest of the parish to change the time of Mass to 10:30.

Jerry has not received any further word regarding the proposed retreat that we were invited to attend along with St. Veronica’s Parish Council.

NEW BUSINESS

Election of officers for the next term took place.  Nominations were accepted and seconded.  Paul Anderson was elected Chairperson, Cheryl Kaminski was elected Vice-Chair, and Gerry Burant was elected Secretary.

At our next meeting Fr. Romanus would like to address the issues of goal setting and our mission as a parish.  He would like to explore how we evangelize to others and discuss how we can reconnect with parishioners who have left the parish in recent years.  A new parish Mission Statement also needs to be examined.  The subject of Stewardship will also be discussed.

The Home & School would like the opportunity to be listed in the Time and Talent Book held by the parish office.  One of our duties as a parish is to be more vocal in offering children more opportunities to utilize the facilities here at St. Paul’s in order for them to remain connected.  It was suggested the Council meet with Home & School members to see how this might be accomplished.

Paul is going to speak with members of the Festival Committee and invite one or more members to the next Council meeting to discuss the future of the festival.  Help is needed in managing different areas of festival planning.  Paul made the suggestion of possibly having Council members get involved in some ways.

The next Council meeting will be Monday, September 11, 2006, at 6:30 p.m. with Paul giving the opening prayer.  New Parish Council pictures will also be taken at the next meeting.

The meeting ended at 8:00 p.m.

Respectfully submitted by:

Pat Sciano
