ST. PAUL PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
June 5, 2006
6:30 p.m.
Present: Gerry Burant,
Jeff Madunich, Kerri Anderson, Linda Krowsky,
Cheryl Kaminski, Vince Sciano, Paul Anderson, Richard Kucharski, Sue Kakatsch,
and Pat Sciano
The meeting began with Vince leading the opening prayer.
Kathy Todryk, representative of the Prayer & Worship Committee, attended the meeting requesting everyone on the Parish Council sign up to bring a treat for Coffee & Donut Sunday, that is being held on Sunday, June 18 as a farewell for Daryl and Fr. Andy. Sheets were passed around for signatures.
OLD BUSINESS
Discussion took place regarding the possible renting/leasing of the school building by Atlas Academy. Some concerns were expressed. If the school building is not used for a period of time, it will deteriorate. If Atlas Academy does lease the building, will bus traffic cause congestion in the neighborhood? It was felt it would be vitally important to view a contract shortly. A three-year contract written by the Archdiocese is standard. It was determined by the Council that discussions should move ahead on this matter. Daryl gave Bob Plewa the authority to work with Atlas Academy. Gerry will contact Bob to see if a meeting can be held on Saturday, June 17th with him to get more information about the school and answer any questions that may arise.
Gerry reminded us of the retreat that is going to be held by St. Veronicas in August and felt it might be good for us to attend.
NEW BUSINESS
Fr. Romanus Nwaru came and introduced himself to members of the Parish Council during the last hour of the meeting, giving a brief background as to his activities over the past several years. He is looking forward to the opportunity and challenge of leading us as a parish community. He feels he will not be making any major changes in the parish operations in the near future.
There will be an informal meeting held on Monday, July 10th at 6:30 p.m. in order for the Parish Council and Fr. Romanus to meet and discuss the future goals of the parish. Pizza will be ordered.
Parish Council members picked the months they would like
to lead the opening prayer. The
schedule is as follows: August Paul,
September Gerry, October Jeff, November Pat, December Sherrie, January
Richard, February Linda,
March Katrin, April Sue, May Pat, June Vince.
The meeting ended at 8:30 p.m. with Fr. Romanus leading the closing prayer.
The next formal Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday, August 7, 2006, with Paul leading the opening prayer.
