Parish Council Minutes
April 28, 2009
Present: Katrin Kempowski, Rob Bohlmann, Paul Anderson,
Father Romanus, Rich Kucharski, Carla Neldner, Cheryl
Kaminski, Mike Bogdonovich, Linda Krowsky and Sue
Dolkiewicz
Guest: Karen Bushman and Jim Hooper
Parish Council Nominees Present: Ken Pfohl and Molly McGartland- Cummings
Guest Presentation: Before our regular meeting started, Jim Hooper brought up a letter that Karen Bushman wrote about our concerns with the RE Classes. We discussed the idea of dividers being used for our Big Hall.
Mike suggested using styrofoam for these walls instead of purchasing dividers that are way too costly. It was suggested that we have Bob Plewa talk with Atlas School about obtaining two more rooms that we can use for the RE Classes. We need 4 rooms, one for 1st grade, one for 2nd grade, 1 for 3rd and 4th grade and 1 more 5th and 6th grade. We will have to wait to see the outcome of Bob’s discussion with Atlas and then see what we can do to resolve the issues.
Prayer: given by Father Romanus
Introduction of Molly McGartland-Cummings and Ken Pfohl – our only two
Parish Council nominees for discernment.
Minutes for April’s meeting were approved after a few changes.
Parish Council - with only two people being discerned for the Council, Katrin offered to take on another term. The two people leaving the Council are – Paul Anderson and Linda Krowsky. Next year, Sue Dolkiewicz, Rich Kucharski and Cheryl Kaminski will be leaving office.
Officers were then elected for next year. They are as follows:
Chair – Rob Bohlmann
Vice-Chair – Cheryl Kaminski
Secretary – Katrin Kempowski
It was mentioned that Anne Uecker’s term as trustee is up this year. Father said he would handle taking care of this matter.
Old Business:
With hiring of a new Youth Ministry, Father suggested that if we share this position with St. Veronica’s we can maybe have them pay for Karen Bushman’s salary and we pay for the Youth Minister or vice-a-versa. This was just a suggestion that he would have to look into after the hiring of the Youth Minister, which we are in the process of doing.
Business Manager – has been hired. His name is Terry Rice and he is a CPA and we will be sharing him with Immaculate Conception Parish.
Church Bells – We will not be going with the church bells that we have been using for the last 30 days. We took a concensus among our parishioners and most parishioners did not want us to go with the bells at this time.
It was noted that Confirmation this year will be held on May 21st.
Our next meeting will be Monday, June 8.
Meeting adjourned at 8:00pm
