The minutes for our March meeting were reviewed and approved.

Old Business:

Katrin went to the District Meeting on March 12.   Here are some of the important points Katrin got out of the meeting:

We should be open-minded to the future and start cooperating with our neighboring

   Parishes – community vs building.

Every parish should have one cluster partner

Stop building walls

More communication

Katrin also mentioned that there will be a webinar this fall, to train for a vision ministry plan due in June 2010.   Also, the Archdiocese will be putting in an Archdiocese-wide computer system for a Archdioces census slated for 2010.

Parish Council Training – if we missed the last training session, Katrin mentioned that there will be another one held at St. Margaret Mary’s, May 9 at 9:00am on 92nd and Capital.

Parish Council Discernment – we have 12 people who were nominated.  We will be sending a letter to each nominee inviting them to a discernment on April 28.   We also need to let our nominees know what the discernment process is all about and that one of them would have to make a two-year commitment to the School Board.

RE Program – Jim Hooper has been looking into the issues we have with the program and how it is set up presently in our gym and Glowinski Hall.  He has been pricing mobile partition panels which go 75 to 80 ft., and wanted to let the Council know about how much it would cost if we went this route.  The Council suggested that we talk with Atlas

School and see what we can work out as far as using one more room for the RE Program.

Karen Bushman – Father sent a response letter to St. Veronica on Karen Bushman and how we will be handling paying our share of her contract.  Father Mark thanked us for the letter.    Karen did attend our meeting and gave a little synopsis on how she spends her time working for our parish.  She said that every program offered is offered to both parishes.  Examples being:  Adult Confirmation, Baptisimal Prep. First Eucharist, CCD and Bible Study.

After some deliberation, our Council had advised to split the cost of Karen’s salary and benefits in half with St. Veronica’s.

New Business:

Festival News – the tickets were all stuffed and put in the church vestibules.   We are still looking for a Volunteer coordinator.  Sue asked the Council if they could help with the Big Raffle corner this year; so the festival committee would not have to worry about volunteers for this booth.  Three members so far signed up and we have 3 more slots to fill.

Father Romanus Report:

Youth Minister – we have received 4 applications – will be interviewing

Business Manager – we have received 6 applications – done with interviewing

Church Bells – we are testing them for 30 days, at which time we will have to make a decision if we want to go with this company.

Parish Directory – Sign-up is taking place.

Parish Secretary – Brittney is pregnant and is due in August.  She has decided to stay home with her baby, so we will be looking for a secretary later on in the summer.

We have renewed the contract for our school principal, Rhonda Friday.

Meeting adjourned at 8pm.

Respectively submitted by:   Sue Dolkiewicz
