Present: Daryl Olszewski, Gerry Burant, Kerri Anderson, Jeff Madunich, Vince Sciano, Chris Fogarty, Sheryl Kaminski, Linda Krowsky, Ann Pawlak, and Pat Sciano
Guests: Parish Council nominees: Sue Kakatsch and Katrin Kempowski
The meeting began with Ann leading the opening prayer.
Julie Pach was available for the first hour of the meeting to discuss her summarization of the Stewardship Assessment. Julie compiled all of the information that had been discussed from previous meetings and devised “action steps” for the Council to consider implementing if we decide to form a Stewardship Committee. It was determined any steps to be taken in this direction should wait until our new pastor is here to see if he has an interest in and/or expertise in the area of stewardship. The Parish Council and parish committees need to meet to discuss these action steps, and to form ideas as to how to implement these steps into their respective committees. To begin to give parishioners information on stewardship, Linda suggested starting a bulletin board and placing it in the vestibule.
Daryl made a suggestion for the Parish Council to spend a day meeting with the new pastor sometime in July to discuss the future direction we would like to see the parish move in and to become familiar with what his hopes for the parish are. Daryl felt this was a most important thing to do.
The discernment process was
discussed, and it was determined to hold both the Parish Council and School
Advisory Board discernments on the same night at the May 1st Parish
Council meeting. The Council, along with
Karen Bushman, will meet at
Gerry and representatives of the
Parish Councils from our cluster parishes met recently to discuss our
district’s directives and how we have met and continue to meet the goals set
forth by our own parish and with the parishes in our cluster. Gerry will be sending Council members the
report from that meeting. Financial
stability of the parishes was one of the items discussed. Although
St. Veronica’s will be holding a retreat for their Parish Council members possibly in August. Gerry related our Parish Council has been invited to attend the retreat also. More information will be forthcoming as the time approaches.
Sherry related the meal program
that was held at IC on March 25th went extremely well. There were 120 people served with 25 meals
taken as carryouts.
Daryl and the Council members felt it would be best to wait to set up a Stewardship Committee until it is determined how we can work with the new pastor on this.
Sherry gave the following report regarding STAA:
· The School Advisory Board will be losing 7 of its 12 members. Members can be appointed, elected, or volunteer to serve on the Advisory Board.
· There will be no K-3 kindergarten held next year, because room is scarce at the West Campus.
· Mrs. Julie Ann Robinson, principal at the West Campus, will be leaving her position at the end of this school year. Mrs. Mary Stallmann, current principal at the East Campus, will become principal of STAA for the 2006-2007 school year.
· The Academy is also taking advantage of federal funding, and has already purchased some equipment for the school (i.e. computers).
·
The moving of furniture and equipment from the
East Campus to the West Campus will take place on or about
· Registration for the next school year is now at 190. Tuition will not be increasing next year. Approximately 22 or 23 applications for scholarships will be taken next school year. On a yearly basis, Catholic Knights Insurance Company offers 75 scholarships, each in the amount of $100.00. These can be used all the way through high school. Parents pay $10.00 to be included in a lottery for these scholarships.
The meeting ended at
Pat will have the opening prayer at the May 1st meeting.
